Club Newsletter - February Update

I'll bullet point things below again, but most importantly, I want to do something I didn't do last year, which is to remind everyone:

The renewal deadline for this year is February 28th!

1. Indoor Flying - Friday night February 10th at 7PM at the Harmony Grove Methodist Church. We will be in the smaller building to the right of the main Church. Please be reasonable in what you bring. Whoop drones (any drone with shielded props), UMX airplanes, small flat foamies, and even RC Cars are welcome. (If you bring an offroad variant, please don't track mud into the building.)

2. It looks like we're moving forward with an RC morning with the EAA Youth Aviation group on April 29th (9AM - 1PM).  That means I'll need solid commitments from volunteers. I need instructor pilots with their own trainers (EAA has two Kadet Mark II's the kids built, so maybe two more instructors without airplanes.) I need volunteers to set up simulators. And, I'd also like to build and fly 1 or 2 FliteTest airplanes that morning as well, so one volunteer for that. (I think I can scrounge up motors, ESC and servos, if the volunteer can bring a TX and RX.)

3. I missed it, but it looks like the Pecan Patch Chilli Cly was a great success! Pictures and videos on Slack.

4. The next big event to mark on your calendar is the Perry Swap Meet. There is a "Perry_swap_meet" channel on Slack where members generally arrange carpools down to Perry. I believe someone reserved some tables to sell from as well. If you haven't been, it's basically the largest RC swap meet in the country (in the world??). It takes up three medium sized conventional halls in Perry Georgia. If you need more airplanes, it's the place to go. If you want less airplanes, it works as well, though prices there are usually lower than online marketplaces.

Hope to see you all at the field.
