Club Newsletter - August Update

A couple of bullet points for your information:

1. The cameras are back! Thanks to George and Marc the modem has been replaced and is working again.

2. Atlanta RC Rebuild August 6th has been postponed. It sounds somewhat unsafe there, so be advised: Hi! An update about Atlanta RC:  we've decided since the protestors are still literally living in the trees, that we're going to hold off on rebuilding until the security situation at the field is resolved, one way or another. So, our workday for Sat Aug 6 is cancelled.

3. In the spirit of RC fellowship, I've offered to allow the Atlanta RC membership to fly at SMRCF for at least the next few weeks. (They'd normally be allowed 2 visits anyway.) I've yet to work out the logistics, but please continue to welcome any new visitors.

4. One last note on the runway: I'm going to start a confidential ledger of pledges and post the total amount every so often on Slack. This would be money you pledge to donate once the runway repavement plan is finalized. (That is a contractor and date have been set tentatively until the pledges are actually collected.) I know a handful of people have told me or even emailed me in the past such pledges, but I want to start fresh, so please resend them. You can respond here, PM me on Slack, or post on the #runway-project channel on Slack, or email me KenLightner@protonmail.com. Pledges will be considered confidential unless you note otherwise or post them publicly.

5. Donated items for auction! See photos here: https://stonemountainrcflyers.smugmug.com/SMRCF-2022/Planes-for-Sale/

Current bids here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dgt78e5EwTuiL71HfWHdK0Wv6STDYz1xcN18tElCy-I/edit#gid=0

You can submit bids by responding here, posting on the Slack #buy-sell-trade channel, or again, emailing me directly at KenLightner@protonmail.com.

That's all for now. Hope to see you at the field.
